Brooklyn and Manhattan residents know that the NYC Parks Department, often with help from privately-funded non-profits, have done a terrific job in the past decade or so renovating, redesigning and even creating parks in many of our formerly-forlorn public spaces. Madison Square Park, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Hudson River Park, Transmitter Park, the High Line, the [...]

Wired magazine called it “the machine that will change everything,” and, given the hordes of creative types who flocked to the World Maker Faire in Flushing Meadows Corona Park this past weekend, 3D-printed projects in hand, eager to share tricks and swaps stories and ideas, they just might be right. It’s called the Replicator 2, [...]
My fondness for the real estate site Curbed is no secret, not only because, for me, it’s the easiest, more entertaining way to get an constantly updated overview of the constantly changing NYC rental apartment scene, but also, as a resident of a NYC rental apartment, I love Curbed’s coverage of all sorts of neighborhood [...]

Grocery stores, butchers, greenmarkets, bakeries, “specialty stores”, the weekly fleas and fairs, all of it. I go out to buy food at least three times a week. Sometimes four or [...]
The New York Times had a piece a few weeks ago titled “How Many People Can Manhattan Hold” that keeps popping into my thoughts as I go about my day, exploring New York City rental apartments and, more specifically, Manhattan neighborhoods: shiny and new, tired and creaky, everything in between.
What is Urban Edge?
Urban Edge is a FREE no fee apartment website. Apartments for rent are listed by the owners, property managers, and leasing agents. Many of them connect their database directly to ours, so you're not looking at listings that have already been rented.
Here's what you WON'T find: bait and switch ads, brokers pretending to be owners, the same apartment posted by 20 different agents, and scam postings. How, you ask, do we do that?
This is how: no one posts an apartment for rent without their account first being approved by our top notch staff, trained to sniff out evil-doers (and brokers charging a fee).
Nabes we cover: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island, Westchester County, Nassau County, Northern New Jersey (Hudson, Bergen and Essex Counties), and Fairfield County in CT.
