I am a Founding Member of NYC’s massively ambitious and, so far, hugely successful bike share program, which basically just means that I plunked down my $95 for an annual membership the first day it became available. My first trip on a Citi Bike–Citibank kicked in $41 million to have their logo plastered all over [...]

Residents in the waterfront neighborhoods of DUMBO, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, and the Columbia Waterfront Area have received nothing but good news of late regarding that great long stretch of neighborhood public space, Brooklyn Bridge Park. For decades a bustling industrial waterfront, then mostly neglected for decades more, the area we now call Brooklyn Bridge [...]
Thanks to the nightmare of Sandy last fall, Rockaway Beach, the best subway beach in the city, was in danger of remaining inaccessible by rail all summer. Yes, there’s now the Rockabus option, which provides roundtrip, street-to-sand express bus service from three locations: Williamsburg, the East Village/Lower East Side, and Grand Army Plaza. And I [...]
Imagine for a minute that you’ve found your dream Manhattan rental apartment. And for the purposes of this little thought experiment, say it’s in the one of most coveted, wealthiest neighborhoods in town, Tribeca. And you love your home and you’re just going about your life and then you go to an art exhibition and [...]
Any long-time NYC resident will tell you that one of the most welcome changes in this great town of ours over the past decade or so has been the widespread revitalization of city’s parks and public plazas. In the 1970s, ’80s, and well into the 90s, even the system’s crown jewels like Central Park were [...]
What is Urban Edge?
Urban Edge is a FREE no fee apartment website. Apartments for rent are listed by the owners, property managers, and leasing agents. Many of them connect their database directly to ours, so you're not looking at listings that have already been rented.
Here's what you WON'T find: bait and switch ads, brokers pretending to be owners, the same apartment posted by 20 different agents, and scam postings. How, you ask, do we do that?
This is how: no one posts an apartment for rent without their account first being approved by our top notch staff, trained to sniff out evil-doers (and brokers charging a fee).
Nabes we cover: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island, Westchester County, Nassau County, Northern New Jersey (Hudson, Bergen and Essex Counties), and Fairfield County in CT.
