Park Slope residents, your neighborhood just got a whole lot more beery. A few weeks ago, in the southern end of Park Slope, right next door to the lovely Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn native Ted Mann opened up his 13,000-square-foot, indoor- outdoor-drinking mega-spot, Greenwood Park.
There’s no slowing down the demand, the development, nor–most record-breaklingly–the price of Brooklyn rental apartments these days. According to the May Brooklyn rental apartment report released by MNS recently, overall rents were up, on average, a head-spinning 10% from last year… and the average cost of a Park Slope rental apartment rose an astounding 40%. The Brooklyn rental market continue to set records, both in terms of rental prices that, on average, have never been higher (up 10% in 2010, and another 7% last year), as well as for the sheer number of new construction and development that’s been pouring into the market of late.

Another month, another record for Manhattan rental apartments, and not in a good way for would-be Manhattan renters. Because although the average Manhattan rent in May only went up by an insignificant-sounding nine dollars, that does mean that the average Manhattan rental apartment now goes for an astonishing $3,438 a month.
