Living in the Norwood / Bainbridge neighborhood of Bronx

Norwood Apartments

Norwood is a community in the northwest section of the Bronx that also goes by the name "Bainbridge".

This neighborhood is situated just south of Van Cortlandt Park and Woodlawn Cemetery, with the Bronx River at the east, and the Mosholu Parkway as the southern and western borders.

Most NY apartments can be found throughout the community, in both low- and mid-rise apartment buildings. Some single-family homes still stand in the neighborhood, but very few remain, while other blocks exhibit semi-detached rowhouses and similar multi-family units.

Living in Norwood

Residents of Norwood apartments have a few options for transportation into Manhattan. This includes the number 4 train, which services the neighborhood at the Mosholu Parkway station, and the D train, which terminates at the Norwood - 205 Street Station near the community's center. Commuters can also take the Metro-North Railroad to Midtown's Grand Central Terminal in under 25 minutes.

The neighborhood's central greenspace is the Williamsbridge Oval Playground, which has several recreational attractions for the active resident. Available facilities include basketball courts, bocce ball courts, a dog run, football field, tennis courts, and of course, playgrounds.

One of Norwood's main commercial strips is East 204th Street/Bainbridge Avenue, where storefronts dominate most of the building space at street-level. East Gun Hill Road also provides residents with plenty of commercial establishments to run errands.
