Morrisania Apartments in Bronx

    Morrisania Apartments

Morrisania is a neighborhood in the South Bronx. Much of the housing stock in this community consists of public housing projects, but there are several low- to mid-rise apartment buildings dotting the area, as well as a few five-story tenements.

Some streets on the eastern side of town still have rows of townhouses, many of which are the original structures (namely on Jackson, Forest, and Tinton Avenues), among just a handful of historical single-family homes.

    Living in Morrisania

Few Morrisania apartments are within walking distance to public transportation, with the only subway stations situated on the outlying borders of the neighborhood. The Freeman Street Station is the closest to the community, located in nearby Foxhurst, and serves the Bronx with the numbers 2 & 5 trains. Another option is for residents to hop on a local Bronx bus southward to the nearby Melrose Station for the Long Island Rail Road. From this station, it is only a 20 minute commute durink peak hours to Midtown's Grand Central Terminal.
