Wakefield Apartments
Wakefield is a neighborhood in the northern section of the Bronx. Bordering Westchester County at the community's northern end, this is New York City's northernmost section.
Bordered by 222nd Street to the south, with the Bronx River to the west, this neighborhood is an inexpensive location to look for your next NY apartment.
Single-family homes on modest-sized lots share the streets with detached rowhouses and low-rise brick apartment buildings.
Life in Wakefield
White Plains Road provides much of the area's commerical establishments. Restaurants and markets line this road along with small, local, miscellaneous businesses.
The Wakefield - 241st Street Station is the terminus to the 2 train, yet this train makes 19 stops before even reaching Manhattan. The number 5 train serves the community through a rush hour extension up to the Nereid Avenue Station. But the subway isn't the only option for commuters in Wakefield apartments. The Metro-North Railroad services the Wakefield neighborhood through the namesake station, providing residents with a quick, 25-30 minute train ride along the Harlem Line into Grand Central Terminal. Residents can also take the BxM11 down the Upper East Side into Manhattan for about an hour trip to Midtown.
