Bath Beach is a quiet, mostly middle-class neighborhood where NY apartments generally come within one- or two-family frame or brick houses, with some three- and four-family houses added into the mix.

Located on the southwestern edge of Brooklyn near Gravesend Bay, Bath Beach apartments are bounded to the north by 86th Street (and New Utrecht), to the east by Stillwell Avenue (and Gravesend), to the south by Shore Parkway, which runs along Gravesend Bay; and to the west by 14th Avenue and the Dyker Beach Park and Golf Course.

Pop Culture in Bath Beach

Even if you've never been to Bath Beach, you've probably seen the neighborhood before: this is where they filmed many scenes of French Connection; the opening shots of the TV show Welcome Back, Kotter, and, most famously, the opening sequence of Saturday NIght Fever, in which John Travolta struts along the avenue to the Bee Gee's Staying Alive.   

Bay Living in Bath Beach

Manhattan-commuters living in Bath Beach apartments can take the M or, more often, the D train, which makes five stops in the community. Although there is no longer an actual beach in Bath Beach--it was paved over decades ago to build the Shore Parkway--residents of the community still enjoy sea breezes courtesy of Gravesend Bay and the beautiful waterfront promenade.

There is also open space and waterviews toward the south of the Bath Beach neighborhood, namely Bensonhurst Park with its ballfields, pathways and playgrounds. The massive Caesar's Bay Shopping Center is filled with national chains like Kohl's, Toys "R" Us, Best Buy, and Modell's, and offers Bath Bay residents a big-box shopping experience as a complement to the many local stores and eateries of the neighborhood.
