Bedford-Stuyvesant (also known as Bed-Stuy) has seen an immense amount of change in the past decade. Once a vibrant cultural center, the neighborhood entered a decline beginning in the 1960s-- like several other sections of NYC-- but is now on the upswing. 

The recent influx of students and young professionals has generated the not-surprising increase of new stores, restaurants, bakeries, and cafes in the neighborhood.

Bed-Stuy's lovely blocks of brownstones that define the architectural significance of this community. With its swath of beautiful brownstones and townhouses, the Bed-Stuy neighborhood is improving its original architecture, reviving the charming neighborhood that once was. 

Bed-Stuy Revitilization

The past decade has been kind to Bed-Stuy, and noticable changes are transforming the direction of the community.  As crime rates dropped, many beautiful, old brownstones on pretty, tree-lined streets were bought up, spruced up, and rented or sold at relatively bargain prices. And in 2005, the New York Police Department declared Bedford-Stuyvesant's Fulton Street / Nostrand Avenue business district to be an "Impact Zone", and poured its resources into the area. The result is what some see as a new beginning for Bed-Stuy, and certainly an oppurtunity worth looking into for people seeking a Brooklyn apartment for rent.

Bed-Stuy apartments can be found around the area's four, smaller communities--Bedford, Stuyvesant Heights, Ocean Hill, and Weeksville. The region as a whole is bordered by Bushwick Avenue to the north (and Williamsburg), Classon Avenue to the west (and Clinton Hill); Broadway and Van Sinderen Avenue to the east (Bushwick and East New York); and by Park Place and Ralph Avenue to the south and west (and Crown Heights). The A, C and G trains run through the heart of Bedford-Stuyvesant, providing ready access to Manhattan, Queens, and Southern Brooklyn.
