East New York / New Lots / Highland Park / Spring Creek Apartments in Brooklyn

    East New York Apartments

East New York apartments are bounded to the north by the Cypress Hill Cemetery, to the east by Queens (Lindenwood and South Ozone Park), to the south by Jamaica Bay, and to the west by the rail yards near Van Sinderen Avenue.

Although its internal boundaries are fairly fluid, the region can be split up into four separate subsections: City Line in the Northwest corner; Cypress Hills in the Northeast corner; New Lots (and Spring Creek) to the Southwest; and the housing development Starrett City in the Southeast.

If you're searching for NY apartments in East New York, you will be looking at semi-detached, multi-family row houses. A series of contemporary, subsidized single-family attached homes have also made their presence felt in certain communities here. Also in East New York are some attractive--and attractively-priced--mid-rise condo complexes such as MeadowWood have been allowing stable, working- and middle-class families and professionals to own their homes, giving them a serious stake in changing the neighborhood for the better.

    Revitilization of East New York

But even during the rough times, there are sections of East New York that have held their own, even as much of the neighborhood seemed to be falling in chaos and collapse in the 1980s and 90s. In fact, so great is the revitalization in certain areas, driven both by new development and the encouragement for homeownership, that some are calling East New York "the next Harlem".

Commuters to Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn enjoy easy access to the A, C, L, J, Z and 3 trains. A huge new shopping mall is here, the Gateway Center, with such chains as Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, Red Lobster, and Olive Garden has risen in Spring Creek, to much appreciation (and spending) by East New York residents.
