Located in the northern portion of Essex County is the town of Montclair, New Jersey. Situated on the First Mountain of the Watchung Mountains, this suburban community is mostly residential, with several large homes in an incredibly wooded atmosphere.

If you're up for escaping suburbia for the wilderness, the beautiful Eagle Rock Reservation is just a short drive from Montclair.  This expansive reserve consists of 408 acres of preserved forest, while also providing extensive hiking trails.

Commuters living in Montclair apartments could not have a more simple trip into Manhattan. From the town's Watchung Avenue Station, residents can catch the NJ Transit directly to Midtown's Penn Station in just about fifty minutes, and without any transfers. If you choose to relocate to the Upper Montclair neighborhood, there are two accessible train stations that whisk you into the city in a few extra minutes.

In all, if you're looking for NJ apartments beyond the commuting towns right across the river, Montclair could be a great option.
