Lenox Hill Apartments

Several luxury NY apartments can be found in the Lenox Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. Lenox HIll is an elegant, well-maintained area that some call the "lower Upper East Side".

Luxurious Lenox Hill apartments are mostly located between 60th & 77th Streets, and from the 5th Avenue border of Central Park to Lexington Avenue.

Most of the buildings in the Lenox Hill community are distinguished, pre-war, doorman apartment buildings, or handsome townhouses and brownstones. Like many New York City neighborhoods, Lenox Hill is named after an actual person--in this case, a Scottish merchant, Robert Lenox--who once owned about 30 acres of land on this "hill".

Lenox Hill Affluence

Today this Upper East Side neighborhood is one of the most affluent in the city, and residents of the Lenox HIll luxury apartments and striking, modern NYC condos enjoy a wealth of fabulous shopping, great local restaurants, and some of New York City's iconic cultural institutions.

Lenox Hill is the current home of the Whitney Museum, which not only houses an important permanent collection of American art, it also has some of the most exciting and talked-about special exhibitions in town, including the famous contemporary art showcase, the Biennial.

The Frick Collection is filled with sumptuous European pieces, and is within the Fifth Avenue mansion of the one-time steel magnate Henry Clay Frick. Other Lenox Hill features include the Asia Society on Park Avenue and 70th Street puts on a wide variety of popular programs, performances, concerts, and exhibitions designed to "strengthen relationships and promote understanding among the people, leaders, and institutions of the United States and Asia".

A Marvelous Life in Lenox Hill

Central Park, of course, is a huge draw for Lenox Hill residents, and some of the most beautiful Lenox Hill marble mansions and Lenox Hill apartments sit across from this city treasure on majestic Fifth Avenue. The grand pre-war brick buildings on Park Avenue, with their wide mall bursting with flowers all summer (and festive holiday lights in the winter), are also much-coveted addresses.

The high-end boutiques in the Lenox Hill neighborhood on Madison Avenue offer fabulous (window) shopping, and Lenox Hill dining options range from the famed, four-star classic French restaurant, Daniel, to the trendy vegetarian spot, Rouge Tomate, to that home of wonderfully sweet, sticky creations, Serendipity Three.
