Yorkville Apartments

The Upper East Side has a terrific mix of Yorkville apartments and condos for sale. The Yorkville neighborhood is a fairly large community, running from the East River to Third Avenue, east to west, and from 79^th Street up to 96^th Street, south to north. 

This neighborhood has something for every budge and every style, with contemporary luxury towers, brownstones filled with solid "starter" apartments, as well as elegant brick pre-war buildings and townhouses. Few Manhattan neighborhoods have the variety of NY apartments as Yorkville.

Leisure & Recreation in Yorkville

The closer you get to the river in Yorkville, the farther away you get from the subway (until the fabled Second Avenue line becomes operational in… well, we're not going to make any promises), but residents over here don't seem to mind. Many of the neighborhood's prettiest homes are on the eastern edge of the Yorkville neighborhood, including the townhouses on tree-lined Henderson Place.

Carl Schurz Park is over here, too, from 84^th Street to 90^th Street, with its sunny lawns, shady pathways and benches, well-maintained ball courts, a popular playground, and, of course, the beautiful esplanade by the water. Central Park, too, is just a walk (or a crosstown bus trip, at 79^th, 86^th, or 96^th Streets) away, as are some of the world's great art collections along Museum Mile.

Other notable landmarks and institutions in the Yorkville community include Gracie Mansion, traditionally the home of New York City's mayor, located at the northern end of Carl Schurz Park; the glorious old Church of the Holy Trinity on East 88^th Street, with its lovely little garden; and the exclusive Brearley and Chapin schools. 

Yorkville: Residents Shape the Community

The high concentration of young professionals, students and families in the area has given rise to a vibrant nightlife and restaurant scene, and good shopping and services are never far away.

Popular eating options in the Yorkville neighborhood include the steaks Libertador Parrilla Argentina, the cozy-café atmosphere of Alice's Tea Cup, the massive burgers and raucous crowd at Jackson Hole, the first-rate Chinese at Pig Heaven (not to mention the million pigs that serve as décor!). And no list of classic Yorkville spots would be complete without Heidelberg's Restaurant and Beer Garden, where the Spaten Oktoberfest is served in steins, sausage platters are decked out with pigs knuckle, and the staff still dresses in lederhosen.
