Elmhurst Apartments in Queens

    Elmhurst Apartments

Elmhurst is surrounded by several of Queens' major neighborhoods: Jackson Heights to the north; Corona to the northeast, Rego Park to the southeast, Middle Village to the south and southwest, Maspeth to the west, and Woodside to the northwest.

There are several single-family homes in this Queens community, yet also a fair amount of small, low-rise, brick apartment buildings, as well as several duplexes. This is a great place to find your next NY apartment as the neighborhood consistently maintains a low crime rate.

    Living in Elmhurst

Residents of Elmhurst apartments have close access to two suburban shopping malls: the Queens Center and the recently renovated Queens Place Mall. Elmhurst is also the home to the Elmwood Theatre, which was built in 1928. With a capacity of 2200 patrons, this continues to be one of New York's largest theatre venues.

For the Manhattan commuter, there are several accessible subway stations. Three of the neighborhood's stations are served by the E, M & R trains, and can be caught at the Woodhaven Boulevard, Grand Avenue-Newton, and Elmhurst Avenue stations. The 7 train also services the area, running along Elmhurst's northern border of Roosevelt Avenue. The neighborhood is also served by several crosstown buses that can easily take you all around the borough.

    Ethnic Cuisine in Elmhurst

The thriving Chinatown of Flushing is no longer Queens' only enclave of the sort. Another Chinatown is quickly growing and expanding in the Elmhurst neighborhood, bringing with it authentic cuisine and other Far-East goods to the local population.

A popular neighborhood restaurant is Tast Good Malaysian Cuisine on 45th Avenue. This eatery has been around for a few dacades, and is consistently frequented by residents of the area. But if you're in the area and in the mood for a Cuban-flavored meal, you must try Rincon Criollo, which is certainly an Elmhurst staple.
