Howard Beach Apartments
The community of Howard Beach is located between JFK Airport and Brooklyn's East New York. This Queens neighborhood is very suburban, and sits on the northern coastland of Jamaica Bay, below the Belt Parkway.
Available Howard Beach apartments are few and far between, as the majority of the neighborhood is made up of single-family-homes. This leafy, suburban-like enclave has homes with front lawns and garages, and most of the multi-family buildings are situated north of the Belt Parkway in the Lindenwood neighborhood.
Suburban Living in Howard Beach
Alhough the MTA's A train makes a stop in Howard Beach - JFK Airport, the station is completely unaccessible to almost every Howard Beach resident, except those living in Old Howard Beach. The Shellbank Basin canal separates the two sections, effectively isolating any subway access from residents on the western side.
Although Howard Beach lacks an actual sandy beach, its waterfront is marked by the natural marshlands along the edge of Jamaica Bay. Beyond this section of nature, there is really no other parkland or recreational greenspace in the neighborhood.
Cross Bay Boulevard is the main thoroughfare that meets the basic necessities of residents living in Howard Beach apartments. This commercial strip has almost everything, which limits the need for citizens to leave the community for simple errands.
