Steps away from the Hudson River, Silver Towers is the newest luxury rental building to rise on 42nd Street. Created by a collaboration of Costas Konddylis and Partners, James Carpenter Design Associates, Kondylis Design, Thomas Balsley Associates and Silverstein Properties, the land for Silver Towers was purchased in 1984. The sprawling 1.2 million square feet complex stretches for an entire city block between 11th and 12th street. Years were spent fervently trying to rezone this area from being an industrial property to a real estate property. Fortunately, Silverstein Properties was able to make headway with the neighboring River Place I tower that was designed by Costas Kondylis. This tower opened in 2001 and helped Silverstein Properties to lead the way in the area.
Following this start, Silver Towers was born. These luxurious apartments are complemented by a public park designed by Thomas Blasley Associated, which stretches for a quarter of an acre. Filled with a pavilion, bocce ball court, children’s area, picnic areas and an interactive fountain, this park greatly enhances the serenity and beauty of the area.
The park is not the only source of greenery within the complex-Silver Towers also boasts of an urban courtyard designed by James Carpenter Design Associates. Wood paneled lobbies, glass sculptures by the likes of David Bennet and spa-like amenities round out the outer appeal of this rental building.
With all of the amenities of a vacation oasis, and entertainment, dining and work all within easy reach, Silver Towers is an incomparable destination location. The public park, designed by Thomas Balsley Associates, is a quarter-acre park with numerous treed pavilions and includes a children's area that features a bronze playground sculpture by artist Tom Otterness, a bocce ball court, an interactive mist fountain, and an area for lounging and picnicking.
Located near the Times Square/Theatre district of Manhattan, Silver Towers offers residents the convenience of many restaurants and stores within a few blocks of the building. It is minutes away from the Jacob Javits Center, and Herald Square shopping. In addition, several major subway lines are situated two blocks from Silver Towers, as well as the cross-town bus to the East Side.
