Originally built as the Matchett Candy factory around the turn of the 19th century, the Wythe Confectionary has a long and storied history. From a former candy factory, it became a temporary home before it was transformed again into an art gallery. It finally was transitioned into its current incarnation in 2005 under the expertise of the architect, Perkins Eastman. Located at 131 Wythe Avenue, the Wythe Confectionary is a spectacularly designed rental building that combines the old world with the new. Developed by Caro Enterprises, this complex sits within the Williamsburg/Brooklyn neighborhood and stretches upwards a full six floors. By making use of the original materials and keeping with the candy factory’s original design, the architects behind the creation of the Wythe Confectionary have made a complex that focuses on the history and character of the area.

Along with gorgeous loft layouts, the Wythe Confectionary is outfitted with such characteristics as brick-barrel hinge corners and corbelled brick cornices. The arched windows, exposed old bricks and timber give an old world ambience to the interior of the building. Residences come with oversized windows, restored solid oak flooring, and exposed wooden ceilings. The ceilings within the units range from 9’6” to 12’ and complement the overly spacious interiors of the units. Washers and dryers are located within every unit and many units offer breathtaking city and river views.  Residents can enjoy comfortable private terraces and stainless steel appliances throughout the units as well as a common roof deck and lounge.
