Living in the Jamaica Hills neighborhood of Queens

Jamaica Hills Apartments

If you're looking for NY apartments in a beautiful, semi-suburban setting, Jamaica Hills should not be missed. This leafy Queens neighborhood is dotted with large, single family homes, many of which are located on pleasant rolling hills.

In the southern portion, there are several Jamaica Hills apartments available, mostly in low-rise, brick apartment buildings. In the eastern section of this neighborhood are the largest of Jamaica Hills' homes, many on very large lots with beautiful front yards.

Jamaica Hills is a neighborhood in central Queens that is bordered by Jamaica Estates to the east, Jamaica to the south, and Briarwood to the west. This area is generally considered to be situated south of the Grand Central Parkway.

Living in Jamaica Hills

Residents of Jamaica Hills apartments can commute to Manhattan via three subway stops along Hillside Avenue. These stops serve the F train, and are Parsons Boulevard, 169th Street, and the Jamaica - 179th Street Stations. An attractive feature to living in this neighborhood is its relatively close proximity to the Jamaica Center Transportation Hub. Take one of three local Queens buses to Jamaica Center and you will be able to transfer to the several Long Island Rail Road lines, as well as the E, J & Z trains. But if transfers aren't your thing, just hop on the X68 express bus along Hillside Avenue, and get to Midtown Manhattan in 40 minutes.

Much of the Jamaica Hills neighborhood surrounds Tilly Park, a beautiful greenspace with a pond. This park's relaxing, natural feel is within walking distance from almost the entire Jamaica Hills. Around every corner of this neighborhood is a charming, tree-lined street. This is a great location to relocate a growing family, but if buying a house isn't an option, renting one of the Jamaica Hills apartments can still offer a lot in terms of the suburban lifestyle.
