Living in the Oakland Gardens neighborhood of Queens

Oakland Gardens Apartments

Oakland Gardens is a neighborhood in northeastern Queens with sections of drastically differing atmospheres. This community sits in the pocket between Cunningham Park and Alley Pond Park, with the Long Island Expressway to the north and Grand Central Parkway to the south.

Each corner of Oakland Gardens has its own distinguishing character, and most Oakland Gardens apartments will be found in mid-rise buildings ("towers in the park" style), or in garden apartment complexes. However, these complexes only make up about half of the neighborhood, as the other sections are distinctly suburban with their single-family homes.

Life in Oakland Gardens

The northwest and southern sections of Oakland Gardens are almost entirely residential, with tree-lined blocks and gorgeous homes similar to those in Forest Hills. Although there are plenty of multi-family complexes in this section of Queens, there are few of the typical NY apartments in stand-alone buildings.

Few neighborhoods rival Oakland Gardens when it comes to available, nearby greenspace. Both Cunningham Park and Alley Pond Park flank the west and east sides of this community with a combined area of over one thousand acres of recreational parkland. The numerous facilities and open space of these parks provide no limit to the activities available to residents of Oakland Gardens apartments.  From basketball, to soccer, to tennis at Cunningham Park, to the kid-popular Alley Pond Adventure Course, the sunny weekends in this section of Queens are always open to a fun time.
